Death is always a sad event for any family. In the traditional Anishinawbek communities often a spirit healer, known by non-Anishinawbe people as a “shaman”, would be requested to lead the funeral service for the deceased. Here we see a healer, in ceremonial robes, performing a farewell dance as the soul of the deceased flies towards the center of a large flower, which is the entrance-way to the afterworld.
